In 2017, Primo Events partnered with Pieta House ‘Darkness into Light’ and Everydayhero to provide an online registration and fundraising platform for Darkness into Light.

The event took place in 150 locations across the globe, including Belfast, across Ireland, UK, Europe, USA and Australia.

On Saturday 6th May 2017 at 4:15am, a record-breaking 150,000 runners joined together worldwide to run/walk 5k while dawn broke to raise awareness and funds for mental health issues, such as suicide prevention, suicide bereavement and self-harm, with the aim of bringing hope, self-care and acceptance for those involved. Event organisers asked people worldwide to ‘Wake Up’ to the issue of suicide and self-harm.

2017 was an incredible success, which saw a 400% increase in the amount of fundraising revenue generated from the event.

How did we help?

  • Provided a fully-branded event registration and fundraising platform, giving all participants a seamless sign-up experience.
  • Provided a multi-currency System allowing people to pay in their local currency
  • As part of the sign-up process, the system ensured that participants created mandatory fundraising pages, encouraging people to fundraise and made it easy for them to give small donations to their page. This saw a 400% increase in fundraising revenue.
  • Provided custom reporting tools to allow charities to communicate with their participants, encouraging participants to get their first donation and to provide metrics across various venues.
  • A scalable system which was able to handle over 12,000 signups a day.

What exactly is your money going towards?

All of Pieta House’s facilities are free, but there is increasing demand. All funds raised will help to keep Pieta House’s counselling services free for those in suicidal or self-harm crisis and those bereaved by suicide. The organisation aims to bring a message of hope that will create a brighter future.
